I seriously considered pulling the cap and liner on my 23 to do everything from underneath. I decided not to for 3 reasons:
1) my deck gelcoat was pretty trashed/worn so I wouldn't be saving that much surface and patching labor.
2) I had a good idea of how it was all put together but didn't really know the little details.
3) I would have had to been super creative/stupid without the proper space and tools to pull all that stuff then work on it and (in hindsight), since I could only get to FL on an irregular basis to do the work, all the parts would have been outside through 2 or 3 different hurricanes.

Definitely the right thing to do if I had the time, workspace, and tools.

Meanwhile I'm still chugging away slowly...
