Feather 12-1 and use whatever you like.

Poly has been forgotten, but it can work well on secondary bonding.

Scuff to no more than 80 grit. Not 100 or 120!

Now this is key here.

Mix your poly and wait for it to kick in the pail.
Now thin this with acetone to the thickness of milk.
Now brush this on the substrate.
Now put your wetted glass on the fix.
Keep this going wet on wet.
Small pieces to larger.

This was taught to me in the early `80`s from a shaper at
Nomad Surf Shop in Melbourne. It works.
I became the ding fixer for my friends.

Thinning the hot mix with acetone creates a "Hot Coat."

You also do this on wood of any flavor when building boats.

When you see white laminates, it is because the cloth has sucked
up the resin and became dry and failure is down the road.

Epoxy is a different layup.
