Default Re: Transom Mounted Transducer Placement

ERic, I have a Lowrance X55. Lowrance sells a "hockey puck" transducer,it's shaped like a puck. I was having trouble getting good readings at cruising speed, so the local marine electronic shop suggested I try shooting through the hull. The thing to do is to have the boat in the water and move the transducer around to find a good spot. Mine is about 10" port of the center line, about 3 ft. forward of the transom. You don't want to shoot through the keel. When you locate your best spot, put down a good spooge of 4200 and seat your transducer firmly. Job done.Yeah it's seated on an angle, but so what, the boat rocks anyhow.
