Hooper I think you hit the nai on the head ,I don't know about the Raytheon but I just installed my new Furuno 6100 and the first thing I did was turn it on. I got the same result as you. After about twenty minutes of looking at the features and the screens I went in the house to read the manual some more. THEN I noticed a warning in the front of the manual NEVER [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] to operate the unit out of the water as damage to the transducer could result. Great, I thought I messed up the brand new fishfinder, but when I launched the boat It worked great and hugs the bottom at cruising speed, I now know that it needs water under it to work, I'm thinking the the Raytheon will probably work once you get it in some water.
