Default Re: Hull I.D. Numbers???

A boat with 76 as the last two digits of the hull ID number and a title claiming it's a '77 year model means that the boat was first registered after August (eighth month is when the new model year starts) of 1976. At least that is what the manufacturer of my 1977 SeaCraft told me.

I have never heard of a boat that jumps TWO calendar years from when it was popped out of the mold to when it was registered.

If the seller has a legitimate title for it that states it is a '78 boat and the ID numbers are on that same title with 76 as the last two digits, I doubt I would worry about which of the two years it is. Either way, the boat was PHYSICALLY made during the bicentennial I would think.

I too used to have a 1976 with a 1977 title year. Seems like that is a pretty common setup. August to December of '76 must have been kinda busy
