Default Re: Mariner Engines Anyone?

Ted, I have a 1986 18' SeaCraft with a 1992 Mercury 200. The engine is fairly noisy, but not so bad that I can't deal with it. It is about typical of that year range of 2-strokes. I re-built my entire engine and lower unit myself and really love its simplicity (sp?). The draw backs, of course are that it drinks gas compared to the newer injected engines. If you can do your own engine work or want to learn, it is a great engine. Parts availability for that engine is also numerous. Ebay is loaded with everything you could ever need if you had to do a rebuild or replace something and most are cheap. It's kind of like the Chevy 350 of boat engines as far as being easy to get parts and work on. It will push my 18' at over 60 mph at about 6000 rpm, but I rarely ever do that...Toadfish
