Re: 18' vs. 20' - Opinions Wanted
Inspite of how it looks on paper: 18 vs. 20, there is only a 14" difference in length. I have had both and find that the 18's have a more "finished" feel to them, with under gunnel rod racks, wider gunnels in the stern, etc.
The raised casting deck on the 20'CC is a bit larger than that on the 18' and has two compartments instead of just one.
Both ride tail heavy and can yield wet toes if multiple people stand in back with the plugs out. A higher floor would have been a plus in either model.
There may be a difference in resale value but in actual usage terms, they are very similar boats. Pick whichever one has the floor plan that you prefer. Beware of any that are being sold with an overly heavy engine, as this will make the water intrusion issue worse.
