When I initially bought my 20'CC, it had a 130hp Yamaha Saltwater Series engine on it and it would FLY. The boat only weighs 1650 pounds, you DO NOT need to get to the Big Rock in 20 minutes! For use around Morehead, Beaufort Inlet, Harkers, and well up the East Side towards the Atlas Tanker, you would be just fine with something in the 130-150 range.

As to specific engines, there is likely only one person among the membership of this site that will argue with you against the Suzuki 4-stroke 115/140's.....and it's not me.

Keep an eye on the weight, they are tail-heavy boats...
