Default Project Question

Is it possible to change an I/O SeaCraft into an outboard? I may be able to get a good deal on an I/O, but want to run an outboard.

Yea many people do it, the easiest way is to fill the i/0 holes in and add a bracket.

In the opinion of many, it's the only way to go...

Sugarhigh-

Replacing the I/O with an outboard on a bracket is a good plan. You've already got the closed transom, although on a 70's SeaCraft chances are the transom will need a partial or total rebuild, especially if it's going to be holding the weight and forces of an outboard. Seems like the Potter Hermco ( look on the links section on the main page) bracket is the way to go, but pricey. Strick (I think) (do a search) built his own bracket, and did a really nice job. I want to see how that works out for him, that might be the an option....

Spend some time with the search engine on this forum; there's been LOTS of discussion of and experience with these issues here.

Next question- where's the best place to sell the I/O motor and outdrive?

Steve
