Congrats on the new Sceptre!
That is where my batteries are too. Never had a problem with them back there, due to the Sceptre's Cabin forward COG. Are you worried about them being right beside 100 gallons of explosive fuel? BTW, more pictures please... ;-)

Thanks Jim!
Yes I am worried about them being so close to the fuel tank like that. Also so low in the boat. I know the hatch goes over and is sealed up but still....... Oh..I will be finalizing my cuddy door with you shortly. More pics to follow in near future -Fred

Fred
If you are choosing to keep the Batteries in their current location, be advised that the floors like to rot. I would recommend the following: 1.) Redo the battery boxes with Nida Core. PVC board or the like & fiberglass. 2.) Config a "Gutter System" to the inside lip & tie in drain lines to the self bales. This will prevent you having to seal & unseal the hatch to maintain or fully inspect the battieries from those small deck pie plates. 3.) Hinge the Deck Plate to the Splash Well 4.) Note the support piece running over the fuel tank under the gutter. This will stop the flex between the Gas Tank deck piece and the new Battery Box hinged Lid. This was done prior to my transom enclose. I made the drains out of PVC Pipe. Call me if you want further clarification. Last picture shows a "Gucci" hatch !!!

Thanks Chuck..just what I needed...love the PVC idea too!!!
Question...how did you connect the hose to the back PVC drain holes?? Wish I could have made Long Point...death in family prevented it -Fred

A friend of mine relocated them to the little storage boxes in the corners of the stern. Just open the door and they sit nicely in there.

That's where my father had them in his Sceptre. Trim tab pump and battery switch were in there too.
