I'm sure it's something the Russians did, since it seems they are doing everything else! However not too sure the North Koreans have a submarine and if they did I doubt many of them Korean folks volunteer for submarine duty!

Ok, as Paul Harvey would say..."The rest of the story". The lake I keep my boat on in Columbia, SC. (Lake Murray) is a man made lake built in the 1930's. It was a WPA project, part of FDR's "New Deal" public works initiatives.
It is very large lake that was created by damming up the Saluda River. In 1910, a large galvanized steel truss bridge (Wyse Ferry Bridge) was built to cross over the Saluda River (see below pic). When the dam was built in the 1930's and the area was flooded to create the lake (to generate electric power for the region), they decided to leave the bridge in place. They knew the top of the steel structure would remain approx. 85' under water so there would be no navigational hazard to leave it assembled. I knew the bridge was in the lake somewhere, but didn't know it's exact location. It is also not marked. So, I did some internet research over the past few weeks to determine it's location. After 30 mins of trolling and marking the bottom, I found it. I permanently saved the location on my GPS and now have a great location to catch Stripper Bass, and maybe giant freshwater catfish too. Below are some sidescans (not mine) of the intact structure.

Kind of cool. Your research leads to a new fishing hole! I like these old time B&W photos of structures. |

Very Cool Story Jim
Thanks for sharing. I don't know about stripers , but still believe some form of malevolent alien is living under that span....
