Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Much better. The smallest details can be a PITA ! My teak door that has been recently resurrected has a lock w/ the name "EAGLE" on it. Of course, my boat came w/ no key for this and the door being able to lock seems 'locked' HA! around this exact type of lock. I have looked on the 'net for the company that makes this lock. Anyone have any advice ? It's not an "American Eagle" lock. And, there are a lot of sites about Eagle locks but they are OLD ! locks. Thx, Alan |

This is for Sceptre /Tsuanmi owners only ( cause they have the same door ):
Oh,and by the way. I have absoutely no idea how this lock actually locks both the hatch and the door in place. If anyone can explain or take a picture of this - I would appreciate it ! -ABL |

Dont have a picture but can tell you that the locks dont work. All you have to do is push in on the door and you can slide the hatch. But they will keep the honest people honest. I keep my boat on a mooring (79 20' scepter) and have never been broke into. I did have some low life @#$%*& steal my anchor light bracket. $7.95 AT Marine USA go figure. I have been looking for a spare barrel key myself as the boat cam with only one. Good luck Scotty

I am having a locksmith re-key the lock. Primarily because the lock is in the locked position and that is a PITA.
I now know how the lock works: First you shut the louvered door, hooking the latch on the port side of the door to the door frame. Then, you close the (2) pc hatch. Then you turn the lock and the plunger from the lock will push into the small hole in the hatch. This will not allow you to life the hatch ( for only honest people ). And the door cannot be opened because you hooked that latch to the door frame. You cannto push forward because the hatch has a flat pc that leans against the louvered door to fully not allow that. Once the lock is unlocked, you then can open the hatch and reach from the top and unlatch the door. Anyone who really wants to get in - will. Actually, like my convertible car - I'll leave it unlocked to avoid someone having to break something to get in !! Especially my newly renovated, precious louvered door ! |
