Does anyone have a link to a decent length / girth conversion chart? We released a 46" bass with a 37" girth on Friday but had no scale on board. I cannot find a decent conversion chart.
Thanks, Hooper |

Hooper, I have one that says for a 46" fish. Age 16yrs, max lbs. 44, ave lbs. 38.7, min lbs 32.5.
Unfortunatly it doesn't have girth. Jonh R probibly does. [ June 03, 2003, 08:20 AM: Message edited by: Finster ]

Measure the fish from tip of nose to fork of tail then around the fish in the front of the pectoral fins. Now take the girth measurement and square it, then multiply this by the length measurement and divide the product by 800. This gives the fish his weight. Here is an example: Girth of fish 12 inches; length of fish 30 inches; 12 times 12 equals 144; multiply by 30 equals 4320; divided by 800 equals 5.4 pounds.
Now according to this calculation your fish was over 78 ponds. So I doubt that the fish hd a 37" girth. [ June 03, 2003, 09:22 AM: Message edited by: NJfishman ] |

After a discussion with my buddy, he concludes the tape must have read 27" not 37", a lot better. I'll post a pic soon. Beauty of a fish and still swimming today...
