Need some advise. I cut some 1/4" Seaboard into 2 inch strips and attempted to 5200 it to the bottom of my new fuel tank. Only problem is the 5200 will not stick to the Seaboard. 3M makes a product called Scotch Weld P/N # DP-8005, but I cannot seem to be able to locate it. Has anyone faced a similiar issue? Dink

I've never tried to glue the stuff but if you have a Taps Plastics in your area then they can probably set you up with the adhesive.

Ya that is a problem starboard and 5200 don’t get along together. I did my tank like you are and instead of using starboard I went to home depo and bought a plastic type product they sell for fences slats. I had to cut is down the middle and then take the grove out if it but I knew it would work with 5200. Those strips are only used for supporting the tank above the deck so they don’t have to be sticking like a weld but on the other side they cant be sliding around on you either. The two thick beads on both sides of the strips that stick the tank to the deck is what really counts. FellowShip |

Went to Home D after work and bought another 3M PVC type product. I put 5200 on it and will advise how it cures. Dink |

5200 works well with pvc and other construction plastics such as electrical boxes, etc. The 5200 will flow a bit on an unlevel surface so I use hot glue to tack things in place while the 5200 cures.

Thanks for the advice. The 5200 is setting so it will be a few days before I can see if it fully adhered. If so the tank goes in and the console will not be far behind. Dink |
