I recently put some new non-skid on the floor of my 18 using gelcoat and sand. After 3 weeks it seems to be tacky? Feels dry to the touch but after kneeling on it in blue jeans it seems to stick somewhat. Any ideas? Email me with any professional HELP! Has anyone had any luck with a good paint?

Did the Gelcoat have a waxing agent in the gelcoat you used or did you add a waxing agent to the gelcoat???????? If you didn’t then the tackiness is from not adding this additive to the process.

I did find out it did not have a waxing agent and we did not add one either. Live and learn (the hard way) I guess. We will regelcoat soon, With wax!

when working with gel cote if it does not have a wax additive in it it must be sealed from the atmosphere in order for it to kick if it doesnt have wax in it spray p v a on it this seals it and allows it to "kick" when dry water will remove the p v a adding acetone to thin the gell cote than adding grip tex to it applying the mix with a foam roller will give a great finish patern to your deck however the chemicals will mess up the roller so make sure you change rollers while working
