![]() I am new user to the site. I purchased a 23’center console last January after extensive research and a ride on my friend’s and CSC member ABL1111’s beautifully restored 1975 23’ Tsunami. Sold!! Seacrafts are a rare find where I live and very seldom available for sale. After a while of searching the US to import in a Seacraft, one turned up not far from my home and I jumped. Great move. Seacrafts are perfect for the offshore conditions we encounter here in Bermuda. I have historically owned and operated sailboats and this is my first introduction into powerboats. I have been viewing this site since searching for my Seacraft and find it most insightful and a fantastic resource - well done to all. The boat is a 1986 (sorry Potter boys) SIC Seacraft 23' Center Console with a 200hp Volvo Diesel Inboard. I am the third owner and don't have much background or history on the boat. My question is this - has anyone ever seen a teak package like this? I have viewed hundreds of Seacrafts and have never seen anything like this. I am wondering if this was a factory option or if a prior owner had it custom done. I have attached some pictures. Any input would be appreciated. Paul ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Gato,
Welcome to the site. You've got a beautiful boat there, and with the IB diesel, quite a rare find too. I'm a fellow SIC owner ('82), and there is less known about the options available on post-Potter boats, so it's hard to say if that teak was factory or custom. Either way, it looks really nice and adds a custom look to the boat. What type of performance are you getting with the Volvo? |

ScottM,
Thank you for the reply. I cruise at 22mph @ 3200 rpm. I can get it to 26-27 mph @ 3800. I haven't calculated the fuel efficiency yet - but with fuel costs here - gas is $6+/gal and Diesel $5.50/gal. The diesel’s efficiency is the only way to go. She isn't the fastest boat around, but in a 4’ chop my friends are riding my wake back in. Paul |

Welcome GATO to CSC.
Nice find and a great Looking SeaCraft. SIC built a fine boat. As Scott mentioned, post Potter options are hard to decipher. Based on many SIC boats we have encountered, I would have to say the teak on the console, the anchor locker and transom access hatchs and the rod racks were standard. I think the teak coaming bolsters was a custom add on from a previous owner. PS: It appears there is a solar panel on the T-Top, is that to keep a trickle charge too the batteries while at mooring Good Luck with her and keep us posted on Bermuda happenings

Capt. Chuck
I think you are correct. When I removed all the teak last year to strip the seven coats of varnish the prior owner applied, it looked like the holes from the original coamings were still there. Rumor has it the original owner was a guy with money to burn, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he had it custom done at some point. Lucky me. The solar panel is indeed to provide a trickle charge to keep my batteries topped up. It seems to be working fine thus far, but I am usually not away from it for more than a couple of weeks at a time. The boat stays in the water at it’s mooring all year long except for my annual haul out to clean and paint the bottom and do some routine maintenance. Unless of course a Hurricane is coming and then it will get pulled and placed on land to ride it out. Paul |

![]() Scott, The prior owners kept her in pretty good shape, but I did spend some time cleaning up and doing some minor improvements. Aside from removing, stripping and oiling all the teak, I had a soft spot on the bow deck that I had to repair prior to the installation of a Horizon electric windlass. This caused me to have to paint the entire topside. I installed new nav lights, bilge pumps, all deck hardware removed, replaced and re-set, new deck lights, repaired the teak swim platform, rewired the battery cables, and changed everything you should on the diesel engine. I use the boat mainly for cruising and raft-ups with friends. I am a diver and Bermuda is not short on wrecks and reefs. I use it for inland reef fishing and have ventured offshore only a couple of times so far where Wahoo, Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna and Dolphin, are all in abundance. She is well equipped for fishing with outriggers and downriggers for trolling the outer reef lines. I am still getting use to operating these but getting better. Paul |
