I tried to remove one of the original rod holders in the gunnel of my 1976 20’SF the other day and all I got was spinning threads. Didn’t feel mushy, felt more like there might have been nuts spinning against washers, but I can’t imagine the holders were installed prior to the liner being installed. I don’t want to drill the fasteners out or cut access ports if I don’t have to. Has anyone removed them and know how they are fastened in place?

mine were thru-bolted, they were put on before the innerlinner was dropped into the hull. Unless your 20 is different, and this is possible, you will have to drill them out or cut access plates. There was also no backing in this area and I had to make backing plates for the new rod holders.

Along the same line (kinda) does anyone know a good manufacturer or builder who makes custom rocket launcher rod holders. I am trying to find something that I can mount right to my doghouse. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks

anybody but Arctek Marine
seriously though: check ebay, there have been some decent deals on what apears to be high quality rocket launchers. Also: two members here: 1: Pipedreams Marine 2: Steve at Oceam Marine Fabricating on Popes Island in New Bedford Mass, he has a 23 Sceptre. |

My 1969 were bolted with nuts and washers on the back, I cut access holes and put deck plates in the inner linner to get to them. The original rod holders must have been chrome over bronze I sanded mine and polished them (the chrome was all gone) and used clear paint to seal the bronze...they look pretty good.

What's Wrong with Arc Tek? I have not had anyting built by him but guys from ctfisherman.com have and from what I know I have not heard anything bad, not that that means a whole bunch but I'd be interested to know, I was thinking of using him for a folding T-top. Thanks for the heads up Trayder. Mor info would be nice.
