hello there,
in the midst or restoring my 23' sceptre. soon i would get to the transom. thinking about raising it to 25" repowering with some used twin honda 130's 4 stroke. for my Sceptre since i can get them for less than suzuki. now they are about 1000 lbs for both and my current evinrudes are about 780 lbs. if this is too heavy i can always keep live well empty (estimating about 210 lbs of water). also, i would only need a 80 gal tank instead of the 100 gal. what do you folks think? |

IMHO They are WAY to heavy and that is the downfall of them.
Keeping the livewell empty? The 2nd thing I look at when quick scanning a boat is the livewell and how it's plumbed, also how big it is. If you can't use it, what good is it? I think the boat would be doomed to fail as a decant preformer. |

I agree with Warthog. Unless you plan on closing the transom and adding a flotation bracket the boat will be way to azz heavy. Dink

Their going to be to heavy even with a bracket.
I've got a 48in wide tub on my bracket. I do see where there is room for some improvement in the design of the tub to get more flotation. [Live & Learn] I have a pair of DF-140 Suzzy's. [Ying & Yang] ![]() The boat still sit's a little ass end heavy. ![]() ![]() ![]() Why go 20hp less and 160lbs heaiver? Plus they run a timming belt [not a timming chain] and don't have the gear ratio or the larger size prop that Suzzy has to get better holeshot. |

How's the boat coming? I have the same motors you are removing on my 23 cc and the same livewell ,I think, that always seems to get full around half way or so and i weight 240lbs and 100 gallons or so of fuel plus other gear and people and I personally don't see any major problems, granted when fully loaded and 2 or more people in the back of the boat theres only a couple of inches of transom above the waterline, but you stated your intentions were to raise the transom 5 inches I would have to say sounds good to me, also I would have to think your boat would be a bit heavier in the bow than the cc which should help keep it lighter in the rear but I'm sure there are many here with more experience than me.
