Pix of Capt. Brian's boat have me thinking-Do you guys think I will have problems if I put the mounts for a livewell on the middle of the top of my transom and then just put the well up there when I need it. I do a bit of live bait fishing, but not too much. It seems that this would be the easiest solution in terms of draining the tank. It sounds a little bit like a PIA, but I think I'd rather do something like that than plumb an outlet for the in-deck well, as I really can't get to the inside of the bottom of the transom to fit the thru hull.
I'm just wondering about the stability of mounting a 15-20 gallon tank up there for occasional use. I welcome your suggestions about the common sense of my idea. I've been going around in circles about this livewell thing for too long now! ![]() |

How about something that hangs off the transom on the outside instead of the top of it? I tried to google a picture for you but could not find anything, I have seen them on boats before though.
