Default Recycled / Scrap Trailer

Has anybody sold their alum. trailer for scrap lately?? What is the going rate for Alum? I was quoted $.30/lb. My tandum axle trailer probably has about 300 lbs of alum. So that is about $90. Does that sound right??

Another place (in Tampa, FL) offered me $ .07/#. I just started laughing. C'mon $ 21 for the whole trailer, I'd spend more than that dragging it over there! LOL.

P.S. My trailer is in Clearwater, Fla.

depending on condition why not sell it on craigslist for a couple hundred i have in the past bought beat up trailers and reworked them into somethig useable to get by when thing were tough and some one might turn it into a utility trailer for atvs, bikes, landscaping it seems a shame to make the scrap yard money when someone could use it
imho

Well thats a thought. In my case the suspension is rusted and not in very good shape. The axles are pretty good, rims aren't pretty but ok, tires have tread but are old, maybe dry rotted also. Wood bunks are ok w/ carpet in okay condition. Hyd. surge brakes dont work. Trailer is a 1977 model for a 23" boat (tandum axle) What do you guys think this trailer is worth ?

A year ago . . . I got 75 cents a pound . . . for clean cast aluminum. Scrap prices went into the toilet Mid August a year ago . . . 45 cents a pound is really really good.

Craigslist is the way to go!!
