I don't know if there's a difference between Moesly's 20 CC and Potter's, but the Seacraft Industries Corp(SIC)20 SF is 8" longer than the Potter 20. Tracker picked up SIC in 1987. The Potter 20SF is 19'-8", My 1983 SIC 20SF is 20'-4". Although I've never weighed it, I believe it's heavier than a potter 20.

Moesly ran the scuppers out the transom; I believe he crossed the drain lines under the deck so stbd drained out port side of transom, etc.

Mines a tracker the scuppers are also out of the transom but not crossed. Why are the mosley 20s drains crossed. Are the 3 boats all set up the same? Why have I heard so many people(not on this site) bash the trackers? Are they not as good I mean I've had this boat for something like 9 years and ran the piss out of it and as far as I'm concerned its been great. Now that I've said that I'm not saying its perfect cause it aint but I've enjoyed the hell out of it.I remember going to look at it and telling dad who found it that it was a piece of crap.I was 19 and all I had ever heard about tracker seacrafts was not good and I wanted a 23 anyway. But all I could afford was that "POS" with tracker stamped on it's side.Well 8 or 9 years later that POS is in my driveway with some paint and a new motor and I hope thats where it stays .Boats and women are alot alike they cant just be pretty not that that hurts but if you get in a scrape shes got to stick with you, when you mommick (aggravate) the crap out of her she just cant tell you to do the laundry yourself just like that old boat can't say ...why dont you just swim home you ass...

The are some differences to the hull design, Tracker added an addtional piece of lifting strake to the bow section.
I wouldn't go so far as to say one is built better or worse than others, most all of the Potters I redo are VERY light on FRP. I would say that when Tracker took over they brought some changes that traditionalist didn't like, along with a name that cheapened the product, that being said, when resale comes most people want a "Potter" hull, some guy down here has been trying to sell an 88'Tracker for $2800, can't do it for that, if it was a Potter it would be gone.

Fish....
This is a quote from Carl Moesly...much like your analogy.

"A boat is like a wife. The one that catches your eye and makes you the happiest is the one for you."

So that when you're heavily loaded and you walk to stbd side of boat to put scupper plug in, causing it to heel to stbd, water doesn't run in!

This is just one example of the attention Moesly paid to the little details, and what sets his designs above the rest IMHO. Other examples are the raised forward deck, tall functional windshield, forward hatch that could be raised as an air scoop, and the 7' bunks extending back under the front seats on the 21, and the forward hatch on a sloped surface on the Seafari's. (Which makes it easier to crawl thru in addition to making it a great air scoop to catch the breeze when you're anchored out - very important in S. Florida!) Other than the raised fwd deck, I've never seen ANY of these features on any other 20-21' boat. Check out Carla's Moesly SeaCraft Web site for more details on the great old 21!

I challenge anyone to find another 21' powerboat with 7' bunks AND a cockpit that's about 12' long! Made it a great boat for Bahama trips! He also invented the bowrider and center console layout!(If you don't count the original Whaler, which really wasn't an offshore boat) It was this attention to detail that also separated the winners from the also-rans when he was racing those boats in the 60's!

on my 68 moesly 20' sf the drains are NOT crossed.

Also, I spent a lot of time looking at s 2008 Seacraft 20' at Basspro and i didnt like it at all.

I have to laugh 'cause I learned about that feature the hard way. Anchored out are the key words here.

When I was about 5 years old, it seems I had the bright idea to head up to the bow while Gramp was running about 20 mph...not a good idea. She catches a breeze alright! Needless to say I pay close attention when children are in the boat these days but they don't seem to be as dumb as I was
