Default Hybird boat motors

I read in the paper today that gas prices will be going to five dollars this summers (at gas stations not marinas), these oil companies know that in 10 or so year that we will all be driving hybirds so they are trying to get the most while they can. Are any of the boat motor companies looking into hybird engins if its even possible?

Reuben Trane has been working this issue for about 4-5 years. Check out his Island Pilot Hybrid Yacht!

Steyr of Austria has a unit - not sure if its available in the US yet...

Good for putting around the manatee and no wake zones and but I don't think they are ready to effectively raise a planing hull...

Mercruiser unveiled a concept Hybrid boat design at the Miami boat show, heres all I could find on the web about it

with the new emission standards and future fuel economy standards coming to the marine industry you are going to see alot of changes in the near future

MY, MY, MY! And what will be the payback period of the 60 Grand additional cost do you think? Can't wait until they legislate mandatory conversion of all existing craft's propulsion system!

Don't they get that "Global Warming", oh excuse me "climate change" is nothing more than a colossal power grab? Does anyone else know that our friend's biggest "Inconvenient Truth" is that he is at the center, along with a select few others, who are waiting to cash in on THEIR brokerage exchange for the trading of carbon credits?

More likely, they will require most, if not all, vessels to go Hi-bred; primary or auxillary.
