I am going to be spraying a Mako with the 545 primer and the topcoat. I have a Devilbiss GFG HVLP gun. Awlcraft recommends a 1.1mm tip, my gun has a 1.6. I'm just trying to confirm that I need a much smaller tip, and I'm not even sure where to get one since it's an old gun - 1.1 seems small.
Anybody here have an experience with this setup? Sorry - it's a 17' Mako, but it's not mine. |

1.6 is a real big tip for finish coatings. I've been using 1.3 for 22 years painting cars and use the same guns with no issue painting boats with awlgrip, awlcraft or Alexseal. 1.6 would be good for the 545. It will put on a lot of material so you will have some orange peel texture that would need to be sanded out.
