Default Bilge pumps

Replaced my Tsunami (Atwood) 800 gph manual bilge pump which is secured port side of keel, with 3/4” outlet flowing out port side stern.

Also found a dead Rule 750 gph with an old style float switch starboard side of keel. Found a new Rule 800 gph, 3/4” outlet but it does not require a switch. This one cycles every two and a half minutes for one second to determine if water is present. If not turns off and cycles again.

The three position rocker switch at dash is up manual for port. The center is off (or constant power to automatic float?) and down I assume would be manual starboard. Don’t believe starboard pump/float worked since I bought the boat. This new style Rule is $56 and free shipping. Any opinions? TIA

Cycling bilge pumps are notorious battery killers. Well known for early failure - in on position.

Makes sense. So traditional Rule 800 with float switch again? Thanks Caper.
I believe my friends/family made it safely back to So. Wellfleet this weekend. (Snowbirds). How’s the weather? No Spring this year?

Michael.

I use a Rule 1500 and an Ultra Mini switch - very reliable. Just got back from the keys myself on May 1 - my friends tell me they had two March's.

Vezo,
Let me know if you would need a wiring diagram to wire it with a float switch and a manual switch.

Thanks Hobe. I’m going to pull the pump, which a buddy has already confirmed seized, and then try to determine if float switch is still functioning. Plan for now.
