Default Starting 23 CC rebuild

Hello CS forumn,
I知 starting a complete rebuild and with out getting ahead of myself first focus at hand is the transom. The hull is almost gutted , minus the stringers, skin , and top cap . I have removed old wood from transom and I知 down to the glass. I just made a template of the transom space and have made a digital file of it. I have a large CNC machine in my shop and will utilize it to create as many parts as I can. I have two 1 1/2 sheets of Coosa that I知 going to laminate together for my transom. I知 using epoxy resin for this entire project. I plan on beveling the bottoms of the coosa at 14 deg so I get I better fit with the hull and transom skin. I will be relying on lots of your success and failures on here as this is my first go. I do have a mentor who did a complete resto about 9 years ago. Thanks again for all the future help and tips . My shop is in Jax beach area if any of y誕ll are at all close and can offer in person tips.
Thanks again

My brother's transom is 3 sheets of 3/4" coosa with 1708 between each one. I thought that was overkill, two 1 1/2" sheets is going to be beyond strong. Good luck!!!

Don V, three different bracket manufacturers gave me thickness requirements of 2.5 , 3 , and 3 inches. Heck if I know? I certainly also believe that it will be a bit thick. What was everyone else being told. FYI I知 going to go with a Zuke 300 29 in shaft. 32 in setback on the bracket and a dual flotation pod. Now all of that stress will be dispersed to the corners of the transom. I will need to aggressively tie them in to the hull sides and also to the 2 main stringers to disperse the forces. Of course Design and practice are most of the time at odds. Thoughts?

You're good!!! In my brother's case they cut out the transom and threw it away (dang thing was incredibly heavy with the old wood, etc) , bonded the pre-cut coosa with 1708, tabbed the inside with 1708, then two layers of 1708 across the whole inside and on the outside three layers of 1708 to tie it in to the hull, then fair and sand. Yeah, it's strong.

I believe it is overkill, BUT, you're not adding that much weight and you will NEVER worry about that transom!

Welcome to CSC.
Keep us posted & lets see if the initial splash will earn the "Gucci Stamp".
Then show it off at some of the Florida gatherings.

Default Final transom prep finished

I was able to utilize a cooler night and put on the tyvex suit and got to grinding. I was able to get to the pink glass all the way around with some margins for tabbing. How much resin will I use ? I知 going to reinforce the skin from the out side with a sheet of melamine and pva it. I知 going to lay up a sheet of 1.5 chop, and 2 layers 1708. I知 going to build up the area where the notch is snd have continuous glass all tied in. 2 - 1 1/2 coosa transom will be laminated with thickened epoxy . I have 3 gallons of available mixture . Is that enough?
