Raymarine S1000 Wireless Autopilot

Decided to stuff this piece of electronics in also. So far i have to admit it was easy to install and for the price and the from talking with thumbs up from Jim at BOE, it is a slick product!! It is early but very impressed, if it $hits the bed ... you can ignore this post.

It saved me ~1/2 hour ride back from the NW corner! The track was straight as an arrow, not my usual s-turns.

Wife says thats great, you will be in 1/2 early ..... wrong again, 1/2hr more fishing time!!

Yes, i am maxed out with electronics and the boat is listing , also starting to look like another rewire project in the future .... na ... all fishing from now on!

Diana should know by now...that you're never in early. I have the had opportunity to fish aboard OUZO several times and each trip was about 12 hours long but very productive.

Let me know how that wireless Autopilot holds up...

Looks like you mist two green wires on those two instruments with wing nuts and no green grounds on them. Now lets see since you really need to green ground everything my guess you need at least 12 more green wires in your spaghetti bole but when you get done with all that you will look far more colorful.

Green wires, please no more …. I do not have a grounding plate on my boat. I have discussed this in the past with Furuno, and they stated it was fine not to attach the ground toggle posts. Also with the Raymarine Autopilot, they stated fine to leave unconnected.

I have to admit the wiring picture does no justice for the tons of hours at night wiring in a tight space. It does not look as busy in person, the depth perspective is misleading. If I could afford and decide on all my electronics at once, it makes the planning and layout easier for a neater wiring job. My hats off to the guys that make a real neat wiring job!! It is not easy, especially with the amount of wiring that cannot be shortened and needs to be buried somewhere and in my case the small amount of real estate and the amount of electronics I wanted to stuff in.

Not making any excuses, but connections are solid and properly fused and this approx 2' x 2' x 8" box is packed to the gills!

The Raymarine autopilot is a beauty, it just better keep working for a long time …
