Default Tsunami or sceptre

I have a 1982 23ft Sea Craft cuddy cabin outboard. I was wondering if this is a Tsunami or Sceptre. I have seen the pictures of both boats and to me they look the same on the outside. Also is this hull built by Potter.
Thanks Steve

Scepter... From an earlier thread it was mentioned that the boat changed names sometime in the mid 70's due to a naming conflict with another boat or marine product. I forget which...

Same boat..

If it's an '82, it's not a Potter hull. Potter boats ended in August of 1980

Steve,
Welcome to the board. I too have an '82 and it is a Sceptre built by CSY. They built SC's from 1980-1986. Show us some pics if you got 'em.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to scan my pictures so that I can post them. What does CSY stand for? Also are the CSY hulls as good as the Potter built boats? Just wondering.
Thanks Steve

Steve,
If I remember correctly, CSY stands for Caribbean Sailing Yachts. IMO, Potters and CSYs are equal in quality.

Their all good hulls, just that the newer they got, the cheaper the rigging/hardware became.
I have been in them from the 70's (potter), 80's (CSY/Tracker), and 90's to current.
They all are about as good of a hull design and construction as you can get.
After 15-20 years, the transoms rot off from all of them, put a new one on and go for another 15-20 years.

Thanks for all of the info. I already have done the transom about 2 yrs ago. I did it myself with the advice of a professional fiberglass man. What a heck of a job, took about a year of working on it here and there. I would like to believe that it is stronger now than it ever was before. I went with less wood and more glass. I went through 15 gal of vinylester resin.

Steve,
To post to this site, you have to get Trayder to do it for you. However, JohnR set up his site, www.theboatzone.com/gallery , so you can post pics there and it will link you back to this site.
