Ficht Outboards...???

Go to www.google.com and type in "ficht outboard problems" and look at the smorgasbord of hits you get... this one in particular( http://www.soundingsonline.com/archive.story/1647.html )as I inquired of another posting... are the new FICHT motors any good? There were many problems with the late 90's motors 1997,98,99 to be exact and I wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with the new ones and how many hours/ what kind of use and maintenance the motor has seen?

BJ from what I see on this board http://www.wmi.org/www/boating/boatboard/ they have straightened out any problems with them. There were alot of horror stories a couple of years ago but Bomb. seems to have taken care of it. Only certain engine sizes were affected anyway. Check out the site above and search "ficht". I repowered this past fall with a 2003 225hp ficht and I now have almost forty hours on it. I would be happy to tell you my initial impression of it which is positive.

I now they were having major problems prior to the 2002 models, prior to Bombardier but as of 2002 they have really improved.Im inclining to a 250 but I have to do a little bit of reseach with the 4 strokes.RS.
