Does anyone know how these aluminum transom jacks fare in saltwater? I've found them in stainless but there almost three times the price.
http://www.basspro-shops.com/servlet...rTarget=search The morons that put my motor on mounted it too high and the darn thing sprays all over the place.

Are you sure you don't mean they mounted your motor too LOW? If it was too high, you would not get any spray like you talk about, if anything the boat would cavitate like heck getting on plane. I am going to assume you have tried to move the motor up to the top bolt hole, or didn't you? If you have a origonal transom, there should be no need for a transom jack, unless you have a 20 inch transom and a 25 inch motor or a 25 inch transom and a 30 inch motor shaft. As for aluminum set back brackets, the aluminum one's they sell in florida work well but are expensive. Try bobs machine shop in Ruskin fla, call or look it up on the web. All they do are jackplates.

Hummmm, Briguy you could be right. The motor doesn't look too low, but what you said makes sence- cause it doesn't cavultate. Problem is the transom would need to be plugged and redrilled. My thoughts were, with a transom jack I could go either direction.
