Default Feedback on outboard bracket

I have a 23' SeaCraft Sceptre with a 250 Merc EFI, which is a cuddy. The hull is the exact same as the CC, but is a little heavier forward than a CC.
I am looking for anyone that has put a bracket on a 23 foot SeaCraft.
The bracket I am looking at is the Hermco found at http://www.hermco.net/seamark_bracket.htm
If anyone has a SeaCraft or similiar late 80's Mako or Rabalo that they put a bracket on, could you post up the pros and cons.
In particular, I am looking for ride height, at rest height, handling, and transom closing strategies.
Any pictures would be nice and I might want to chat with you.
Also interested if the transom had to be reenforced, or if it was a straight bolt-on.
