Default 21 Seacraft

Has anyone ever rode in a newer 21 SC, there is one for sale locally here in town, and I am tempted to look at it, or look at another older 23' Seacraft. My only worries are its size and the ride. At one point I had an older 76 23' Seacraft and loved the ride unfortunately I could not see speding over 30k to get it running again. The year of this boat is a 98 with a 200 EFI mercury and it had some engine work done to it recently and is warrantied until 05.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful

Bradenton,
I've ridden in a '98 21 with a 200 OptiMax and the ride is very similar to a 23. The 21 is more of a 23 minus 34 inches than a 20 with an extra 11 inches, if you know what I mean. It's got the same deadrise as a 23, and at 2,500 pounds it's not too much lighter either.

Basically what Scott ScottM said, same or very similar ride to a 23' with a bit less room. If you are comparing it to the older 23's, it actually has more room due to not having the huge splashwell. I've spent a fair amont of time in a '99 21' and found it to be a pretty nice boat actually. It has a lot in common with the 23' and very little in common with the 20'.

If that is the boat in Naples,I bought that boat new in January 98 and fished it for almost 6 years befor selling it to it's present owner.I really screwed up getting rid of it.When I sold it last July it was in almost perfect condition and the guy who bought it seemed to be the type to keep it that way.As far as ride well it's a SeaCraft,I am really tempted to go buy it back myself. If you want to know anything about the boat E- mail me.Joey

I have a 21 SC that I bought new in July. I have previously owned a 20 SC center console and a 23 SC cuddy. Like most everyone said above the 21 is very similar in ride and handling to the 23. I also have the Merc 200 efi like the one you are looking at. I have had no problems with it. The only drawback is that it does burn considerably more fuel than the DFI engines would. I can run offshore 20-25 miles and slowtroll most of the day and burn roughly 35 gals +/-. I love the boat and have been very happy with it. No problems with either boat or engine. Please feel free to ask any questions because there is nothing better than talking about SC's.

I have a 2000 SC 21 that I bought in 2001 as a leftover with a 200 Merc Optimax- I love the boat and the ride- I fish the ocean mainly and have been out in lots of conditions- the boat is fast and rides great- lots of storage too

Thank you for your replies, I recently went to a dealership and really was impressed with the roominess of the 21 SC, however I'am debating on waiting to find a nicer 23 at a good price.

Thanks again

Hello fellow sc people, I bought the 21, it's riding on a trailer for a 23' and seems too high, will moving the bunks out cure this problem, or will it be rear heavy, by the way I have a 1988 20' cc for sale(my wife says I can't keep both, go figure!)
