![]() In order to keep the 'future wife' happy, I have promised to look into mounting a teak swim platform across the stern of my i/o. We 'beach it' a lot, and although I'm fine w/ a ladder/small platform of some sort, I can understand her wanting one. Drilling holes into, and covering my brand new transom job !!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention it's a fishing boat !!!Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh ! OK, I feel better. Anyone have a swim platform mounted like this ? It seems that the platform would be mounted very high up the transom and would need to have cut-outs for the tops of the trim tab 'pistons', maybe for the top and bottom ( when fully tilted ) of the Bravo outdrive too ? How does this work-out ? And, how does it look ? If it looks like sh_t, I will not do it. Period. Future wife or not. What other ladder/boarding options have I got. The owner before me had drilled into the side of the hull, bolted (2) SS ladder hooks for a removeable ladder. Looked terrible, so I filled, faired and gel'd - I would never do that again. Thx, Alan |

A nice rope ladder with big wide steps and little plastic weights on the bottom to keep everything in place. Roll it up and store it under the seat.

AB.
I have a full teak platform on my IO Tiara and I think it looks just fine. (my wife likes it too)..The trim tab cylinders fit under, the raised lower unit has plenty of clearance etc. I'll take a picture when I get the boat ready in the next couple of weeks. This snow is not helping me any..Ill mail the picture to you. I don't have a digital camera. |

I have had this ladder on all of my boats. its easy to use even in scuba gear. And it floats. All that is there is a small bracket when the ladder is stored. Personally I like the teak platform idea with this ladder mounted to it. Removable ladder

Abl,
A full transom platform is not all that diffiult to make out of fiberglass. All you need is a flat malamine board to lay it up on. Make the shape you want the platform to be out of some 1/4 inch plywood and fit it to the transom to determine the cutouts and mounting location. Then duplicate the shape on the malamine board and use some flexable plastic or wood to form the lip. From there its just lay-up sanding and painting to your taste. If I had a full transom I'd want one too. |

![]() I actually bought a used fiberglass, full, swim platform last year from someone - off of a 4 Winns. It needs to be sanded down and sprayed - if I decide to use it. The bad thing about this particular platform is that it is a heavy bugger ! It is built well - w/ a thick pc of ply sandwiched in. It must weigh about 75-100 lbs - that seems like a lot of weight hanging off the stern. I was thinking that I would sell it and buy a used teak one for the lighter weight - again, if I decide to go w/ the full trans swim platform... |

I took off a teak (wood) platform off my twin I/O 23. It had 4 cast aluminum L brackets to mount it. It is 1976 and I think I still have it but I live where there is no snow!!!
Bill Soon I'll have two again |
