I recently had a Seastar pro hydraulic steering system put on along with a new motor. The O-ring on the helm pump cracked and it lost a lot of the fluid and caught some air in there.Does any one have any experience on bleeding these systems to get the air out?I have tried replacing the fluid and working the air out but no good so far
Thanks |

Go to the teleflex website, click on seastar and look for the bleeding instructions. If you have a leak you have a problem I believe, but at least you can find out how to get the air out. As a minimum I would get a short piece of hose to slip over the bleed nipple and partially fill a small glass or cup with fresh fluid. Keep the hose in the fluid throughout the bleeding process and just watch the bubbles. When they disappear ( it may take 4 or 5 cycles) you should be done. Good Luck. Rich
