I just got through removing the port side wood block that the deck scupper goes thru,on my 23 Tsunami.It was about half rotted,but the front part where the brass tube passes thru was solid.
I'm fabricating a new block out of douglas fir,and will use the old block to set up the drill press angle for the new replacement. Two questions for any who can help. #1 Where can i get the brass tubes that are long enough? i thought i saw a post that Boston whaler had them, but i couldn't find it.Do the Whaler dealers stock them? #2 whats the best adhesive to bed the tubes in? i was thinking of 3M 5200, but if i ever had to replace one,it would be impossible to remove it. Any suggestions or improvements on the above would be welcome.

Yes, I got my replacement tubes from a Boston Whaler dealer. They come flared on one end and are long so I had to cut them to length. If I were replacing the blocks I would use some type of a.b.s. or another synthetic tube and epoxy them in place. The biggest problem with the brass tubes is that they eventually corrode through.

I may need to replace mine too.
What do you ask for, is it just the brass drain tube or is it from a specific model Whaler? |

I'm not familiar with the block it is mounted in and whether or not you could do this. It might be a better idea to drill it out to a slightly larger diameter, fill it with epoxy and then redrill it to the desired diameter. Brass is going to eventually corrode anyway you look at it.

FELLOW SHIP, just put his through the transom and sound like the way to go. He answered a email ealier on this, but I really like to see the whole finished project. The other thing is I fish with big boys 200 lb plus and a live well, so most of the time fishing I leave the drain plugs in.
