Default Waterline on a 20' and paint questions

So I am finally getting ready to paint the sides and the deck of the boat, and lay on some bottom paint and what not, but I have no idea where the waterline is since I have have never seen this boat floating before. Even if I go to the local boat ramp, there is not nearly enough weight in it to give me a true waterline measurment.

Can any body give me some measurements of the waterline on a 20' SF, So I know how high to apply bottom paint? I will be adding a jackplate with a 5" set back, so that will probably lower the back even more.

Now a question on painting the sides...can imron be applied to areas that will be under water? If so, can bottom paint go over the imron on the lower area of the sides that sits in the water?

Default Re: Waterline on a 20' and paint questions

Yamm,
I have a 1973 SF20 with bottom paint and when fully loaded my bottom paint is approximately 1 1/2" above the waterline on the entire boat. From my experience, I would not put imron below the waterline. It will blister and will not be a pretty site. I put 2 coats of barrier coat before putting 2 coats of Petit hard coat.

I will take some measurements on my hull that may help you with establishing your waterline. Hopefully it will help when you lay it out with tape.

If you need pictures let me know.

Thanks for the responce, but i've already taped it off and applied 5 coats of interlux 2000 and one coat of interlux ACT. I'll be applying the second coat of ACT tomorrow and spraying the hull on saturday.

I will post pics on saturday when the hull is sprayed
