Default Installing cap, Question

I removed the cap to re-core it and its getting closer to be reinstalled. When it was removed it had 5200 in areas where there were gaps but, mostly a black sealant, which I don't know what it was. What is the correct product to use? Any thoughts or suggestions in this process would be much appreciated. Thanks.
