The reason for me was the baitwell, here in Fla we use alot of live bait - the wide gunnels are really neat too, the GF loves that as you can sit just anywhere. Actually I think the design was done for the live bait crowd, in'75 it was becoming an important issue down here.

Does anyone out there actually use the transom live well on a 20 MA? Mine is really stern heavy just with a 140 Suzuki. How much water do you put in them?

I do - with a 200 Merc and it drains just above the lift ring, holds alot of bait - my intake is at the bottom and seems to work well. A top intake would not do as well I don't think and make the flow adjustable.

They didn't come with any that I know of - we rigged the thru hull and sea cock at the dealer. Mine already had one when I bought it and then fills into the bottom of the well - although this wasn't a pretty install. The drain is just a standard 1 1/4" with a brass strainer thru the transom. I guess it might be possiable to exit the side but the well is pretty flush against the hull but would have a gap - that might wiggle a bit and be tough to seal. Be sure and mount the pump below the waterline or it won't draw right.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to the MA or the SF. I wouldn't buy a 'master angler' due to that 4" raised cap, which I think ruins the lines on an otherwise aesthetically pleasing hull. Others specifically seek them out. Worth more? no, not unless there is a buyer absolutely bent on having that model.

Having owned both models, I can say Mark's image right there is what made me go to the SF the second time around. What nice lines.
