Cool powder coating windshield

I recently took the windshield off my 73 sonami, I was going to have it powder coated. Now I'm having many concerns. Will windshield slide together, will hinges need to be taped off. I read somewhere that powder coating will not hold where it is pitted. My cousin had his windshield anodized and was not happy the way it looked after spending many hours prepping. Can somebody give me some advice please? thanks, motbed

Powder coating will give you back what you give it, in any color you powder coat. IE: any imperfection's show up, corrosion spots, divots, holes, etc.
If there is not much clearance for the hinges, when you re assemble, yes, the powder coating can chip/wear and that will bring you right back to where corrosion starts.
Anodizing gives you back exactly what you give it, imperfections, corrosion holes, welds, discoloration, etc. It is very hard to anodize an original piece and have it come back to original.
Painting I find gives me what I want, protection and repair ability, any of the processes take a tremendous amount of prep and protection.
IE: Soda/sand blasting, acid washing, sanding, priming, sanding, partial assembly, prime, sand, paint, final assembly. (if Painting)

I find a modified Awlgrip system.
Sand/soda blast, Aluminprep, chromate (Alwgrip doesn't make this any longer, but Alexseal does) , 545 primer, Alwgrip paint.

motbed, My windshield is being powder coated as I type this message. I can send you same pictures when I get it back. he did say that the hinge should still work but if not I was going to replace it with a new stainless hinge. thrers no problem with the pieces sliding back together or the windows opening. you need to remove the window and all the seals and gaskets then bead blast it with glass beads before powder coating. The blasting and powder coating is around 600.00

thanks striper565, I'm reconsidering the powder idea after reading about chipping when drilling into coating as I have to drill snaps for new top. today I saw a windshiald that was painted with SEM auto trim paint, it looked good but I'm wondering how long it will last before having to repaint. I would like to see those pictures and I hope it comes out good for you. thanks, motbed
