Im installing a new trim and tilt assembly. What's the best way to do it? its a 1989 johnson 225 vro. Is there away I can test it before I install it I bought it used? Should I fill it before I install it? This is probably a dumb question but should it be laying down or standing up when I fill it?

Not super familiar with that motor but test wise I think you could disconnect the old one and connect the new one and hit the switch and check. I have always filled T/T assy. standing up. But again not real familiar with that motor.
