Flush Mount Rod Holders

I have been looking at Lee, L.D. Marine and, Gemlux flush mount rod holders based on what some members have posted about rod holders. It seems that most of the heavy duty models with 30 degree angle are approximately 10" in length. I have a few old 8 3/4" rod holders that I have temporarily placed on the gunwales but the the base of them all stick out the bottom so far that they become visible and not very attractive to look at. I haven't purchased any 10' rod holders yet with the concern that they may extend another 2" out of the bottom of the gunwale side panel and be even more visible than the shorter ones.

Has anyone found a remedy for this problem. Only an esthetic one but just the same? Is there some version of a flush mount 30 degree rod holder that is not so long or is there another way to mount them? Thanks Paul
