Default The HiLiner GYPSY 222 refurbishment

Purchased on the Fourth of July 2020, it needs a lot of minor repair work, the hull on the port side looked like a T-Rex had taken a quick swipe at it and took the gel coat almost down to the fiberglass. On the Starboard side some gel coat work Had been done but hadn’t been sanded down, and the overall top coat is oxidized and looks really bad.

All the teak looks like it was varnished and in rough shape, the work had runs in it and it hadn’t been kept up at all, the wood had some shiny spots where the varnish remained the rest of the wood was grey and dry.

The Captains chairs were both broken, the wood in between the chairs and the pedestals were dry rotted, the steering wheel has a huge crack in it.

There are five to ten spots where the fiberglass is showing through.

The HiLiner name plates have been replaced by vinyl lettering, And the windshield wiper blade is missing and there aren’t any V Berth cushions in the vessel. The anchor has been severed and there isn’t any chain just severed rope and the anchor.

The bottom pain is in really bad shape it has been painted over a few times without it ever being sanded or paint removed. The skeg has a big chunk taken out of it, I read a post that someone in taxachussetts welds them Is this a possibility?

And this is where my journey starts, Hopefully I won’t screw this up, it looks like I’ll be heading to Quincy And check out the boat salvage yard. I will post pictures and document my progress as I go along.
