Default Seacraft 21, advice needed!

Hi there, I’ve been offered a Seacraft center console, it measures 21’ and I’m told it’s from the early 2000’s. I know it’s not as old as most featured here but it does seem to have the potential to be a great boat. The owner is indisposed at the moment so I’m trying to find out a little more about it, what to look for to assess it condition and perhaps some thoughts as to it’s value.

On initial inspection it looks a little tired, but with no obvious damage or marks, topsides are dull and discoloured but the hull and bright work looks to be in great shape. Obviously need help in pointing me in the direction of what and where to look structurally, how are they for stringers and fuel tanks for instance? It’s serial number starts SXCRA504.

It should clean up really well, but would then benefit from new instruments, switches, a seat recover, new t-top material and anti-foul. It has been sitting out on a Seacraft trailer in the Floridian sun for a few years. It currently has a Mercury Optimax 150hp outboard which looks to have seen better days, the meter is showing over a thousand hours.

So another question there is what would the recommendation be for a re-power, I’m not a fisherman but I would like to maximise it’s speed potential, it does seem a heavy boat but what kind of power will the hull take without compromising the ride?

They do look a great classic boat and I thought they would have an enthusiast’s following, so glad to have been pointed in the direction of your forum.

Any thoughts and advice much appreciated!

Many thanks, Mike

Always liked the way they did the newer 21' its basically a short 23'. look it over but I was told the newer ones were wood free. I would think a 225 hp would do a nice job as they are a big 21

all composit no wood anywhere..3 piece hull, 95 gal tank, its a 23 cut short as was said above and closer in ride to the 23 than the 20...What to look for ,,sounds like it could use some TLC depends on how the owner kept it up , being in Florida etc...check the fuel fill cap and fill hose ,its also where the vent hose is, check the gasket ...the only other thing some guys dont like is the floor live well fills with rain / washdown water and has to be pumped out. that does not bother me...the 150 is just a bit under power , but with the right prop you can deal with it...THESE hulls dont get the love and recognition like the older hulls ..BUT I think they are just as good or better ...I had a 69 Potter for 35 years and sold it 4 years ago to buy my 21....My 21 was updated right before I bought it, with EVERYTHING new .. I love mine , I have a 200 Optimax year 2015 , cruse at 32mph tops out at 43mph . mine has a t top and top mount outriggers, trim tabs, and lots of new additions.......the first production for this hull was 1998 and made by Silver King in Florida. THESE BOATS ARE HARD TO FIND.. I have brochures for most years of the newer hulls....If you like contact me with any other questions seafarerjoe@verizon.net or my cell 609-335-5519

A shortened 23 would have to have at least or more than 21 degrees of deadrise and nowhere that I can find did tracker build one listing those specs. I do know of folks that have cut them down as a one off build but nothing you could buy from Bass Pro.
