Default trailering vs. keeping your SC in the water

How many of ya keep your boats in the water. And how many have both options with trailering and docking. I've just entered into the "I can boat/fish anytime I want" when my 18SF is docked attitude. I'm headed to Sarasota tonight by boat just to satisfy the addiction.

Both options for the past 3 seasons. Prior to that we didn't have a trailer. At first the boat was on a mooring, but ever since we moved to a slip the boat gets used far more often. Hop out of the car, walk down the gangway and boom, you're on the boat .

I used my boat 2 to 3 times a week when I had it in the water and 2 to 3 times a month when on a trailer. And the beauty of it is you can just leave the boat get the wife and kids home and clean it up at your leisure later.

I will never ever ever go back to being on a trailer, period. Boating becomes so much more fun once you get into a slip. When I have only an hour or two, I can go for a spin, or just go to the boat and chat with the other fisherman at my marina. It is a very fishy place, with a lot of commercial guys which is really go, as I have learned a lot. Plus, having a slip means I can go and work on the boat, open a beer and soak in what it means to be on the water in the summer. Try it, you'll like it!

I also keep mine in a slip and have been keeping boats in slips for 30 years or more. I enjoy all that has been stated above, especially when Im not fishing, I can go down and just "hang out". Shoot the stuff with everyone else who does the same and "piddle at the same time. I am lucky in that I slip at the mouth of the Cheasapeake bay and have quick access to the largest artificial reef in the world (chesapeake bay bridge tunnel) and the ocean is just as close with more different species of gamefish than probably anywhere. The downside is that I cannot readily trailer down to Oregon Inlet or Hatteras like some of my friends do but I can always 'ho with someone else when I want to go !!! The other down side is that I have to haul twice a year and scrape barnacles from my running gear. BTW- the micron extra I applied this spring still lloks brand new after several months now and I would recommend to anyone keeping their boat in the water. craig
