Default fuel tanks and livewell on 77 sceptre

-I have removed the deck and motor well from my sceptre. this boat was fitted with a second fuel tank (50 gals) in the fish locker. they both look fine, should I replace the tanks now while the deck is up? also I could now cut the fish locker out and configure a better place to put the second tank or eliminate it altogether. somedays I may need more than 100 gals of fuel.
What would new tanks cost?

-also, now I have the option to remove the baitwell is that a good Idea? I will use the well but I'm not sure that it is the best configuration(overflow with a seamark bracket). I may be better off with a larger above tank well.

Ron, If your considering going with a full transom a livewell up on top works great I did it on my 23 and really like the results.Plus with a full transom you'll be amazed the room you have.RS.

Ron, If the tanks are old they're probably bad. look on top of the tank for the year. They may look good from the top but they go bad on the bottom(corrode). the only way to be sure is to remove them and pressure test. if they are bad I'd get rid of the 2 tanks and go with one large if you can accomodate it. that will give you back your fish well. Mine had a 100 gal tank and with a single 225 I got pretty good economy. Around 1.25 to 1.5 mpg. My best was a 119 KT Mi trip and i burned about 65 gallons at 3500. I turned my bait tank into a fresh water tank for a shower and put in an above floor livewell that worked great. Heres some pics.

New tanks run about $6 to $8 a gallon to have built.
