I am consistantly picking up alot of water in my gas. All the obvious things appear to
be fine. Heres is the deal: The vent on my boat is mounted on the side of the hull and is facing down. When I run with the trim tabs down, water really flies up the side of the hull, and maybe is entering thru the vent. Anyone have and ideas or experiances simular to this? |

Hey John
All I can say is that on mine the vent is about six inches under the rub rail and is angled back so even if water were to run up the side of the hull it would deflect from the vent .... unless somehow there was a vacuum in the tank. If yours is pointing straight down maybe its scooping up water as its forced past the vent... Just a thought. It should be easy enough to angle the vent to the aft of the boat. You sure your not getting water in the courtesy of your fuel dock/gas station?? Hope you get resolve to the problem quickly !!!!! My gas vent is is about half way down the lenght of the boat 4" below the rail. Pointed to the stern. no water. how are you getting water from your t. tabs[stren] going to the side of the boat? or did I read that wrong? |

Point the vent aft and slightly down so no rain/wash water can get in and you should be able to eliminate the vent as a source of water in the fuel.

Thanks for the replies. On furthur inspection, the vent has 2
holes in it, 1 at 3 oclock and one at 6 oclock (bad position). I thought about just 5200'ing the 6 oclock one shut, and leaving the 3 oclock one there. When I have the nose of that thing down, the water comes up the sides when I hit waves. If you see the other post, I am getting a fair amount of water in the cabin from water coming up the sides thru some gaps underneath the rub rail. Maybe I am running the nose to far down, but when I do, it really smooths out the ride. |

Don't plug the vent you won't be able to fill the tank or get fuel from it!Try getting a clamshell type vent or putting a clamshell over the existing vent.
