Default Seacraft rip off?

I bid on a Seacraft on ebay which almost screams scam though I could be wrong. Item # was 7131496773. Seller claimed it was a 76 Seacraft, but when you look at the picture of the console, the little bit of gunnel you can see on the side does not look like any Seacraft built in the 70's except Mark's since he rebuilt the gunnels. Seller's response to my question about it was that it looked different because the rub rail was removed (yeah right). Pic shows brand new aluminum trailer. I asked if trailer was included. He said a galvanized trailer was included. Bidding ended with the final bidder backing out. Mailing the final bidder got no reply. A couple days later I got an offer to buy it at my bid price which was only $2000. That boat is worth $12k easy with a new paint job, 98' 150 Johnny, and sweet T-top. It was getting fishier by the second. I emailed the seller saying that I was interested (at that price I would buy it even if its not a Potter). I asked for Hull ID, title info, and address to see the boat. Initially no reply. I asked again and seller replied like 3 times with 3 different addresses first saying that he would only do the transaction through ebay. After replying that I would be happy to do the transaction through Ebay and requesting the info again he sent an email saying that I had not met the reserve price (which is ridiculous since the auction was already ended). All I can say is beware and never buy anything big on Ebay sight unseen. If I am wrong and someone knows about this boat, please let me know.

A major clue is that this guy has no feedback. Never even bought off ebay? Heck someone could take a pic of my boat, auction it, then privately offer it to a bunch of folks that bid on it.

Heck, I don't care what his feedback is as long as he has a clear title, I can check out the boat in person, and can purchase with some sort of fraud protection. Everybody has to start somewhere. But, yeah, 0 feedback is definitely something to be wary of. I used to do alot of business on some of the old pre-Ebay auctions, but by the time Ebay came around, all the scammers had found the Internet, so no, I do not do alot of transactions on Ebay. I remember the good ole' days when the internet was just scientists, programmers, and CS students. Those were the days Archie, gopher, and ntalk anyone? Of course there were no great sites like CSC.com back then.

I have seen this boat, Ilive in the Cape.
It was located at Cape Tool and tackle for a while. The rubrail has been taken off. There are numerous holes on the lip. There is also a wierd splashwell mod which is now a bait table or something. When I saw the boat there was water all under the console.
The boat has been MIA from the lot now for almost a month.
I would not pay $12000 for it.

If you also look at the transom it has a huge aluminum plate with scuppers going through.

it's an 18' and they had wider gunnels than the standard 20's. I had a 1976 18' and liked it very much.
