140 susuki 4 stroke
I have a 1977 20 cc. The old 1977 140 evinrude is shot. I am thinking of building the transom to 25" and putting the 4 stroke Susuki on the back, but I am afraid that it will not have anough power. Could someone that has one powered this way please help.
Thanks, Critt |

Re: 140 susuki 4 stroke
I did the exact thing your planing on my '72 cc. Turning a 14x21 aluminum I top out at 42 mph on the gps. Probably could do a little better with a ss but I'm satisfied.

Re: 140 susuki 4 stroke
I have the DF140 on a '71. Trayder has the same engine on a '69. The list of 20's on this site with that engine is a long one!! I have the 14x20 SS prop on there and am happy with it. I generally cruise at about 4100 rpm which gets me right at 28mph. the top end is right at 40mph with a full 75 gallon tank, t-top, and two full size adults on there (with full cooler of course ).

Re: 140 susuki 4 stroke
Is a Suzuki 250 to a 23 what a Suzuki 140 is to a 20' weight and power wise? Or is the 250 heavier in relation?

Re: 140 susuki 4 stroke
a 140 weighs 25.6% of the weight of the SC20 hull
a 250 weighs 22.3% of the weight of the SC23 hull yes, I'm lacking for things to do right now |
