Default Rartian Bay Fishing Today

Put my baby in her slip (in beautiful Keansburg, NJ) today.

Took her for a quick shake down spin. The water temp in Raritan Bay was 46 degrees. Way too cold for May 1.

I brough two bunker spoon setups with me and nabbed 4 bluefish (5 to 10 pounds) in about 1 hour of trolling.

Nice. Remeber, feed'em a lot of bait so they are nice and big when they get up here!

Biglew,

The bluefish are here in huge numbers. Also, they are hear very early.

On the down side the bass bite has not been too consistent yet.

Peter,

If you can believe this, we've had years when they have come up river into the Merrimac River 4 and more miles and start feeding frenzies just of boat docks where they have spooked out some "schoolie bass." I've seen 16-20 lb. blues caught from the dock! Very cool fun to wach all the guys down at the docks diving for their rods to get in on the action. One time they threw enough bait lures and kitchen sinks at them to hold'em for 20 minutes and more.
