Default Heading To Miami -

For my 40th birthday my wife and some friends are treating me to a trip to the Miami boat show. We will be driving down on Wednesday before the show. Looking forward to it because I have not been in years.

We will be spending 3 days in Miami and I want to also visit some marine surplus/salvage yards while in town. Can anyone recommend a good place to check out in the Miami area. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know Miami very well, I actually spend alot of time trying not to go there. If you enjoy fishing and the like I would suggest a drive up to Broward to the IGFA Hall of fame. It is off Griffin Road in Southern Broward County. Parking lot is shared with Bass Pro Shops. Should be easy to find online.

I worked in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach for a while back in the mid 90s and remember seeing the IGFA building but never visited it. If we have time we will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion. Jack

It's right next to Bass Pro Shops in Dania, right off I-95. There is a good surplus store in Fort Lauderdale called Sailorman on SR84. There's another in Miami called River Marine Supply on SW 6 St. and several others. Do a search for "Marine Surplus Miami" and check them out.

Thanks Botapeje - I did a search on Google for "Marine Surplus Miami" and mainly came up with marine rescue/salvage companies.

I can remember a couple in the Ft. Lauderdale area - will check out Sailorman. Our plan is to hit the boat salvage yards on Thursday then go to the show Friday and Saturday. Thanks again..

If you see a decent (and decently priced) leaning post/livewell would you pass it on to me?? The "Pogy Pen" is really what I'm after. Thanks!

Sailorman is pretty cool. Also check out marine flee market I think it's in Dania.

Dania Beach Marine flee market is March 18-21. I went to the one in Pompano Beach last weekend, lots of SeaCraft stuff including a mid 80's 23 & a sweet green 73 20sf all hooked up with JL audio. Forgot the camera, sorry.
