I have decided to move to Florida (again). Hopefully this is the last move. I like St Augustine because I lived there previously, know some people and know the fishing very well. The fishing side of me says go further south because of more species (one can only eat so much Kingfish). Can't go too far south because of my job but was thinking of Sebastian area. That is about as far as I can go. Problem is that I don't know anyone there and I don't like the idea of moving and not knowing ANYONE. (No wife either) at 59 it is more difficult to meet people especially single people but I know the fishing is better compared to St Aug. I can fly where I need to out of Melbourne or Jax. Fishing would be 10 miles out or less in 20' SC and inshore.

Having fished both, Sebastian Inlet would be my pick hands down.

Sacerdote, from Vero in the south, to Titusville in the north. Less crowded, MLB or MCO airport, lower housing/living costs than Daytona northward (although Daytona/New Smyrna is pretty good) Also, only 30 minutes from Sebastian Inlet to the Gulfstream.
BTW, does your username indicate profession?

Sacerdote, you may want to consider Gainesville - then you have the Gulf, Atlantic or the Gators to choose from. Oh, did I forget to mention I have a house for sale in town. I've moved to NC.

I live in Central FL, and fish regularly from SBI to Daytona. There is a good crew of anglers and a couple of great fishing clubs down this way. If you wind up in the area, let me know.

Take a look at Edgewater...
Just south of Daytona 25 miles. From my compound, to OIA is 50 mins., 30 mins to DAB. Sebastian is 1.5 hr, Canaveral is 1 hr, Ponce is 30 min. Being in-between like this makes it very easy to access I-95 and I-4.. You would fit right in with the SeaCraft clan here. We are all in our 50's as well, Who like to boat, fish & shoot. If you would like to check us out shoot me a PM. See ya, Ken

Sebastian is not bad, If you continue South the ride gets shorter to the deeper water but the crowd grows also. The indian river holds some fish as well for the days when you want to take it easy and stretch a line.
Let us know when you get settled in and good luck. |

And while I really like Citrus county, it's too far from the Atlantic, and after 10 years in this area, I still haven't got the hang of fishing for Reds and Trout. (I grew up in Palm Beach county)

I bet you're a great fisher of men, though!
